Mothers Know Best

When my mum was over she bought me two pair of sneakers. She said I would definitely need them. One for running shoes the other for the pregnancy.
Well!
Despite the fact I LOATHE sneakers on anyone outside of the park or the gym (seriously! sneakers only go with workout clothes, people!) I have broken down and now wear them daily. They are saving my body from crazy aches and pains. Luckily my jeans hit the pavement once the hem is down, so nobody has to know.

Tee hee hee.

Rock on, comfort!

Right On Schedule

Well, our pooper must have read the text before we did because he's right on schedule.
Last night I woke up due to him kicking.

As for personal progress, yesterday was the FIRST day in these many months that I actually got an appetite. You know, like the good old days? Before pregnancy? And when I woke this morn I was/am STARVING. How about that, I never thought I'd feel hunger again.

To date I have gained 15lbs (just under 7kgs). Due to a COMPLETE lack of exercise I'm surprised I haven't gained more. But holy cow....I believe it is about to happen.

If I weren't so busy moving house I'd definitely be at the park working out.

However....maybe I'll have to look into some maternity clothes, afterall. My fat jeans are getting tight!

Week 20

Week 20: Congratulations, you now have a mini-baby!
Fetal development in pregnancy week 20:fetus in fifth month

This week you're carrying about 10.5 inches and 10.5 ounces of solid baby-miracle-goodness! Their little delicate bones continue to ossify and toughen while their itsy bitsy finger and toe pads are finishing up. Your little monkey now has teeth buds, although they’re hidden beneath the gum line. And finally! Their limbs have reached their relative proportions—no more alien baby! Their cute pink lips are more defined, and might be helping out in a bit of prenatal thumb-sucking. If you have a little boy, then their tiny testes are descending, though they have not yet passed the abdominal wall. What’s more, eyelashes and eyebrows are also visible. At this point, your little one really looks like a miniature baby—and we do mean miniature as your little swimmer currently weighs a mere eighth of their final birth weight. With half the pregnancy behind you, the most significant gains are yet to come!

And how's mom doing? Not that we need to tell you, but your baby may sometimes seem like a kick-boxer in training with no appreciation for your exhausted-pregnant-momma sleep needs. Still, before you start yelling at them to calm it down in there, remind yourself that your busy baby really has no idea if you’re rolling out of bed or cozying up to your partner for a good nights rest. Unfortunately for your sleep schedule, your little independent thinker will continue to operate on their own time table throughout the rest of the pregnancy. And you thought rebellious behavior only started around puberty!

Have you enrolled in a Lamaze course yet? The now-renowned courses teach various alternative birthing and breathing techniques, not to mention the oh-so-valuable lessons involved with natural pain management. (Visit http://www.lamaze.org/Default.asp for more information.) If you have already enrolled in a Lamaze course, consider coupling it with either a swimming or yoga course (or both!). Both forms of exercise focus on controlling your breathing (a large part of the Lamaze philosophy), while at the same time increasing blood flow, strength and flexibility. What’s more, many yoga studios and swimming pools cater to pregnant women (and couples) offering low impact sessions perfect for you and your partner.

Lamaze? Swimming? Are you kidding? I'll just focus on finding a house to live in for now, mmmkay?

Photos!

I hope to take some new photos of my bump today!
Muahahahaha.
Stay posted, I'll get them up when I can.

Watching Him Sleep

I spent a chunk of this morning watching Brennen sleep.
I know, I know, creepy as all get out.
But it's so beautiful because...argh! Because he reminds me of the baby. I guess anyone would, while they're sleeping. Because they're not focussing on being somthing, they're just existing. They're just....being.
Arms flung out. Hands twitching. A toss and a turn, legs kicking and moving around.
It's so insane to sit on this chair and watch Brennen sleep knowing that inside me his son does the same thing.
It's beautiful.
It's unity.
And it's also great because I look at him and *know* that there is no man on earth who would do more for me than this man. No man who would fight harder, work longer or break-in-two and encompass the world for me, like him. And that's pretty amazing to think about. And to think that that now includes another little being, also.
So this morning I sit in a skirt, a tank, cross-legged on a chair, scrubbed clean out of the shower with a blue towel-turban on my head and just watch him sleep.

And I think...this is the best breakfast I've ever had.
Fo' shizz.

Ironically...

Now that we're out of the creepy blue house we have hot water.
The bomb, right?
Hot showers...it's been years. And I've been grinning like a loon when I jump in.
But ironically, now that I have hot water, I can't really use it! This shower heats up nicely and makes me really dizzy. Trouble is I don't know I'm dizzy until the room is spinning. And there's NO WAY I want to faint in the bathroom with all of the ridiculously hard bathroom hardware in there.
*shudder*
Don't wanna bust my bump.
So luke-warm, cold showers it is....STILL.
Can you believe this?!?!?
*angry face*

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!

OUR MONSTER IS A BOY!!!!!
Most AMAZING day yesterday.
The ultrasound was OUT OF THIS WORLD.
You got to see...*everything*
We saw the four chambers of his heart beating.
We saw his kidneys.
We saw inside his stomach.
We saw all of his little tiny bones in his arms and legs.
We saw his spine (that was freaky looking! like an electric eel!)
We saw his toes and his fingers!
We saw him kicking his feet and sucking his thumb!
We saw him turning over.
AND WE SAW HIS FACE!
CLEARLY!
So clearly....his forehead, his eyes, his nose, his mouth....B thinks he has my chin!
He has long legs and is clearly, CLEARLY a boy (so make what you will of the size of his pee stick!)
And everything lookeed fine...no signs of downes sydrome, no cleft lip, no other deformities.
Good strong heartbeat (155).
They measured his brain and other various parts of his body.
Due date is reset to March 30th (so glad I can quit telling people April 1st!!!)
And...

just.
Wow.

Brennen and I blown away.
Amazed.
In awe.
In love.

Here are some snaps we have from the ultrasound...we will upload the video for family and friends when we can.

Baby Boy Video Snaps (bigger and better version uploaded when I'm on the right computer)

Love and sparkles and OH MY GOSH WE CAN PAINT DRAGONS AND KNIGHTS ON THE NURSERY WALL!

xxxS.
